		<description>You left out that computers today do sync (normally weekly) to time.windows.com or whatever the Mac server is.  Those sync with an accurate atomic clock.  Phones do similar things with the network&#039;s servers.

But overall, great article.  Avoiding DLS and time zones would be great for programmers, but I think it just needs to be overcome.  Unix timestamps are pretty great - convert them to UTC for everything and then unconvert them when displaying works pretty well.</description>

		<description>While I agree that we should all switch to UTC, that won&#039;t eliminate the need to do the math when dealing with GPS: it doesn&#039;t include leap seconds like the one we just added at 23:59:60 31-Dec-2008.</description>
